How much does Noise! cost?
Noise! is free to the 32 students that are selected for the camp. The Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation provides a full scholarship to each student. Students accepted are responsible for paying for the transportation to and from Nasvhille only.
What if I am not 15-17 years old?
If you are younger than 15 than we encourage you to send your contact information to heart@muzak.com and we will place you on the mailing list for next year’s Noise! camp unless you turn 15 before or during camp. If you are 18 and still in high school you can still apply for Noise!. We do not publicize that we accept 18 year olds because we want to avoid receiving applications from students who are already in college.
Where is Noise!?
Noise! is being held at Vanderbilt University (www.vanderbilt.edu) in Nasvhille, TN. All students will stay in the dorms on campus during the two weeks of camp.
Do I have to play an instrument or be a singer to attend Noise!?
No. We look for students with a passion for music, but we do not require you to be a musician. We are looking for students who are interested in having a career within the music industry, which could mean entertainment law, producer, sound engineer, etc. Our goal is to expose students to a number of music industry careers out there that they can pursue whether they have musical talent or not.
What do I need to bring to Noise!?
Once students are selected to attend Noise! they will receive a packet of information outlining what is needed at camp.
How will I know if I am accepted?
After we have reached the application deadline (May 14, 2008) you will be contacted by mail with the results of your acceptance within the first week of June. Students will be contacted whether they are accepted or not.
What if I don’t have the money to buy a plane ticket to Nashville?
We encourage the students to come up with creative ways to furnish their transportation to the camp. Students can mow lawns, wash cars, etc. Or the students can find a sponsor (local church or community group) in their area to sponsor their trip. If the student is still unable to come up with the money for their trip they should contact the Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation for further suggestions or assistance.
What kind of supervision is at Noise!?
The Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation takes the responsibility of the students at Noise! very seriously. We make sure the students are supervised throughout the camp. There are 6 Counselors (educated adults that have experience in music and/or education), 2 Junior Counselors (college students that have attended Noise! previously) and 3 Directors (Foundation staff that oversee the entire camp and handle all logistics in association with the program).
